MAD RIVER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT ALLIANCE FALL HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION IS OCTOBER 6, 2018

The Mad River Resource Management Alliance, Casella Resource Solutions and the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation are sponsoring a Fall Household Hazardous Waste Collection at Harwood Union High School, Route 100, Duxbury on October 6, 2018 from 9 am to 2 pm. So, if you are a resident or small business in Fayston, Moretown, Roxbury, Waitsfield, Warren or Waterbury and have household hazardous wastes like pool chemicals, mercury products, solvents, degreasers, oven and drain cleaners, paints, adhesives and more, you can bring up to 10 gallons of these wastes and all of your pesticides, architectural paints (oil and latex), primary batteries and all your compact fluorescent lamps at no charge for proper disposal. After the first 10 gallons or pounds of other hazardous waste there is a $4.00 per unit fee to help cover the disposal cost. While you're at the Household Hazardous Waste Collection, you can visit the paint drop and swap where folks can bring good cans of paint that they don't need and you can pick these up and use them for your painting tasks. If you have any mercury thermostats, they are eligible to receive a coupon valued at $5.00 that can be mailed to the Thermostat Recycling Corporation. The cover must be on the thermostat to be eligible for the incentive fee. You can also visit Waterbury True Value Hardware Store, Aubuchon's Hardware Store and Bisbee's Hardware for recycling your architectural paints at other times during the year. You can recycle your primary batteries at SunCommon and Waterbury True Value Hardware in Waterbury, Aubuchon Hardware in Moretown, Bisbees Hardware and Casella's Earthwise Transfer Station in Waitsfield. You can also recycle fluorescent bulbs at Waterbury True Value Hardware, Kenyon's True Value Hardware and the Earthwise Transfer Station in Waitsfield. If you have a mercury thermometer, we will swap you for a digital thermometer, one per family. Kinney's Drug and Variety will also accept mercury thermometers on a daily basis but you cannot swap for a digital thermometer at this store. Businesses that are small quantity generators of hazardous waste should preregister by October 4, 2018 by contacting John Malter at 244-7373. Soil Saver Compost Bins will also be available during the HHW Collection for $52.00. If you are interested in purchasing one contact John at 244-7373.
