What are the knowledge and skills we need to establish greater equity in our classrooms and schools? Paul Gorski, PhD, founder of the Equity Literacy Institute and EdChange, is coming to Montpelier on Nov 1 & 2 to speak about "equity literacy"--an approach for strengthening our literacy related to educational equity. At this 2-day workshop, he will talk about why inequities and educational outcome disparities persist. The intersectional approach involves considering equity in relation to race, class, gender, sexual orientation, religion, (dis)ability, and language, among others. These workshops are geared toward educators (policy AND practice), but also will be appropriate for community members who work with youth. Nov 1 & 2, at Capitol Plaza. Low cost of $75 for both days. Sponsored by VT-HEC's Mission Investment Fund. Follow up days in spring on gender, poverty, and race. To register: www.vthec.org
