Happy Mid- Winter!!

Marcia Dion, a clinical audiologist will be at The Health Center on February 20 at 1:30 p.m. to talk about hearing loss, screening and testing. Marcia grew up in Barre, Vermont, earned her undergraduate degree from UVM, and her Masters in Audiology from Northeastern University in Boston. Marcia worked in Boston area hospitals for a number of years until she moved back to Vermont to take a job with DHMC. In 2003, she started her own practice here in Montpelier.

At a recent diabetes conference there was a disucssion about the relationship between Diabetes and Hearing Loss. Evidently high blood sugar can cause tiny blood vessels in the inner ear to break, disrupting sound reception. Hearing screenings are not routinely done and may be overlooked.
