Contra Dance on Saturday - California Caller and VT Band

Past event
Sep 29, 2018, 7:30 to 8 PM

Please join us for live music and fun dancing at the Capital City Grange, on Rt. 12 about 1 mile south of Montpelier, this Saturday, Sept. 29th.

The caller will be Frannie Marr, visiting from California. Check out her website, franniemarr.com to see the many dances she has called in her home state, and across the country at festivals and great dances like ours. She'll be teaching all the dances, with an introductory lesson for newcomers at about 7:35.

Live music by the Geezersons, a multi-generational band with performers we know from Vermont: Pete Sutherland, Jeremiah McLane, Oliver Scanlon and Guillaume Sparrow-Pepin have made many appearances at the Grange Hall. While the band does not have a website itself, or YouTube videos, you can find out about all of them and their other bands easily on the web--bands like the Clayfoot Strutters, Pete's Posse, Nova and others!

The dance, sponsored by the all-volunteer Contra Dance Umbrella (CDU) happens on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturday of every month, all year round. Couples, singles, beginners and people from 1 month old to 80+ are enjoy dancing together at these dances. Wear light, loose clothing, clean shoes (to protect our dance floor), and a water bottle to keep hydrated--water fountains are available to refill! Dances start at 8:00 and go until 11:00, with a short break around 9:30. Join the fun!

Admission: $10.00 base price for adults, $5.00 for kids & low income, $15.00 for dance supporters.
