UVM Medical Center invites all neighbors to participate in a design charrette for a new noise barrier wall that the hospital proposes to build on the East side of our main campus to help mitigate noise from traffic in and around our loading dock and perimeter road. We will host this charrette on Wednesday, October 3rd, 5:30 - 7:30 pm on our main campus -- in the Mary Fletcher Meeting Room off of the East Atrium of our Main Lobby. We will provide sandwiches, snacks and refreshments.

We are proposing to build this noise barrier at the request of neighbors in the Case Parkway/East Avenue area who are most impacted, and with the input from our acoustical experts. Based on computer modeling, our acoustical experts project that a noise barrier built along the outside edge of our perimeter road, running parallel to East Avenue at the top of the embankment, up to 600 feet long and 12 feet high, would produce the maxiumum decrease in noise heard by neighbors. At the charrette, we will present design concepts that we are studying, and collect your input on those concepts. We'll be joined by the team of experts we have assembled to work on this project:
Architects: E4H (Williston) with Wagner Hodgson Landscape Architects (Burlington)
Acoustical Consultants: Resource Systems Group (RSG -- White River Jct.)
Civil and Structural Engineers: Engineering Ventures (Burlington)
Construction Team: SD Ireland (Burlington) and Whiting Turner (Baltimore)

Free parking will be available for this event in the hospital's underground parking garage. Take a ticket on your way in, and we will provide a pass at the meeting. To reach the Mary Fletcher Meeting Room, take the elevator to Level 3/Main Lobby, and take a right into the East Atrium. The room will be on your right just before the bathrooms.
