Workshop on Using Biodiesel (B100) for Heating Fuel, 9/28 @ 5pm - Beer Provided!
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
This is your invitation to an exciting workshop being hosted by the Montpelier Energy Advisory Committee to learn more about the possibility of using Biodiesel (B100) as heating fuel (and to share some good beverages!):
Fri. Sept. 28th @ 5:00pm, at 610 Elm St. in Montpelier.
To learn more and to RSVP please visit:
https://www.facebook.com/events/489299148214998/
*Please feel free to forward to potentially interested folks.*
What: Workshop with biodiesel (B100) expert Jim Malloy (Owner, Black Bear Biodiesel in Plainfield) and boiler/ burner technician expert Craig Emerson (Service Manager of T.H. Malloy & Sons fuel delivery, Cumberland, RI). A portable demonstration boiler will be on hand, and you'll also have the chance to see the in-process conversion of the heating system for the home at 610 Elm St. We'll explore what is involved in transitioning your heating fuel from fossil fuel to B100 (as many homes in Southern New England have already done) and address important questions about supply, delivery, service, and cost.
Who: Anyone (homeowners and technicians) interested in learning more about biodiesel (B100) as a heating fuel.
When: 5:00pm Friday September 28th.
Where: 610 Elm St., Montpelier, VT (home of Montpelier Energy Advisory Committee Vice-Chair Jared Duval). At the intersection of Elm St. and North Park Dr. Note: please park across the street in the parking lot for the Montpelier recreation fields/ pool or along North Park Drive.
Why: Many Vermonters are looking for ways to reduce or eliminate fossil fuel use and meet their energy needs in more sustainable and climate friendly ways. B100 is a low-emitting, renewable fuel that, so long as your fuel tank is located indoors in a space that stays above 45 degrees and some relatively simple steps are taken, can be a replacement for fuel oil for your furnace or boiler heating system. Montpelier, specifically, has a goal of becoming the first capital city to eliminate fossil fuel use by converting to 100% renewable energy… and biodiesel (B100) can play an important part in helping us get there. Luckily for central Vermonters, we have a great source of high quality, ASTM certified B100 biodiesel right in Plainfield.
…And there's also free beer or cider: We'll have beer from Idletyme and von Trapp breweries, both of which supply waste cooking oil from their restaurants to Black Bear Biodiesel -- so you can drink beer from local breweries that might also help supply your heating fuel! We'll also have non-alcoholic options, including apple cider.
Hope to see you there!
