The Race Against Racism

Past event
Sep 23, 2018, 11:30 AM to 12 PM

The Race Against Racism is an annual youth-led, inclusive running event that brings together the community. Runners will run a 5k scenic loop through the streets and bike path of Montpelier, starting at Montpelier High School.

This year any funds raised will be contributed to our partners at Migrant Justice and Youth 4 Change at The Root Social Justice Center!

Running is optional! There will be other highlights - including music by A2VT and SoundCheck, spoken word by Lena Ginawi and Rivan Calderin, and a chosen few amazing speakers, pizza by Woodbelly Pizza, and ice pops by Curly Girl Pops, at the Rally Against Racism starting at 12:00.

Racism is still alive and well in modern America, including Vermont. People of color often struggle to feel represented and supported. It is clear that this is a time when we all need to stand together and fight for inclusion and equity.

We're asking for schools and organizations to support by helping publicize this event, mobilize students and the public, and for individuals to volunteer, rally, or to RUN! We hope schools are willing support us further by providing transportation where possible. Please come, bring your team, your running partners, or just yourself.

Attend and support!
