Red Cross Needs Volunteers! Local Meeting Next Wednesday the 26th

Past event

Hey Neighbors!
The American Red Cross is hosting a local meeting at the Newport Municipal Building, Council Chambers Room (222 Main Street) next Wednesday, February 26th from 6:30pm-7:30pm. I will be present, along with some local volunteers to discuss with the community what it is that Disaster Services does here in Orleans and Essex Counties. Red Cross volunteers respond to emergency calls at any time of the day to help their neighbors who have been affected by a natural disaster like a fire or flooding. We also provide assistance to first responders like fire fighters and EMS to help keep them hydrated and energized.

Across the state volunteers responded to 179 emergencies last year. This number is increasing year to year. In the first 44 days of 2014 volunteers responded to 46 incidents across the state, helping families during their time of need. Our volunteers are very dedicated, and we are looking for more people to join our team to help support our community. You don't need any prior experience in order to join, and we will provide any necessary trainings completely free.

Please come join us for some snacks and refreshments next Wednesday the 26th at 6:30pm at the Newport Municipal Building and consider joining our team as a volunteer. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at Natalie.Barrett@redcross.org.

Best,
Natalie
