The Vermont Theatre Lab presents "Candide" by Leonard Bernstein at the Paramount Theater in Rutland on Friday, Sept. 28, at 8:00 p.m.
This musical, based on Voltaire's novel, follows the trials and tribulations of a naïve young man and his companions as they navigate a cynical and predatory world. The brilliant music by Bernstein (composed at the same time as he was writing the music for "West Side Story") is accompanied by lyrics from Stephen Sondheim, Lillian Hellman, Dorothy Parker, and others. The performance is directed by Jacob Patorti, conducted by Bear Irwin, and choreographed by Erika Schmidt, with the musical direction of Beth Thompson and Melissa Chesnut-Tangerman. Some of your neighbors are in this performance!
One performance only! Tickets are available at www.ParamountVT.org or at the Paramount Box Office: (802) 775-0903 or in person (box office is open Thursday-Friday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.).
