NEWBURY ELEM. SCHOOL VOTE THURSDAY, SEPT. 27th 7:00 PM
All voters in the Newbury Town School District are asked to come to Newbury Elementary School's gym Thursday Sept. 27th at 7pm to vote! There are 3 articles on the warning for that meeting related to the prospect that the State Board of Education will rule before the end of November that Newbury will no longer be an independent school district with its own local school board.
* Article I asks voters of the Newbury Town School District to advise the School Board to reject the Secretary of Education's proposal under Act 46 to merge the Newbury Town School District with the school districts of Blue Mountain Union, Oxbow Union High School District #30 and Bradford Elementary School.
* Article II asks voters to advise the Newbury School Board of Directors on the dispensation of the Common should a merged union be mandated by the State Board of Education. Should the Common become part of the property of the merged district or should it be conveyed to the Town for one dollar prior to a merger?
* Article III asks voters to advise Newbury's school directors as to what provisions should be made for the ownership of the Elementary School Building in the event it is no longer used for educational purposes.
