Enjoy a selection of culturally rich, adventure-packed and incredibly inspiring documentary short films curated from the Mountainfilm festival in Telluride, Colorado.
All films will explore the themes connected to Spruce Peak Performing Art Centers mission: to inspire, educate, and entertain audiences to create a better world. At each screening a Mountainfilm presenter will guide the audience through the program providing insight on the films, filmmakers and subjects.
VIPs DJ JaBig will join us for the 3pm Family Matinee and Riccarda de Eccher will join us for the 7pm Festival Screening.
MEET OUR VIPS
Mountainfilm on Tour Stowe announces two VIP guests, both subjects of films being screened at the festival. There are two screenings, each featuring 11 films, planned for the inaugural festival.
DJ JaBig
The 3pm Family Matinee includes the film Escape and the films subject, Jean-Aimé Bigirimana (more commonly known as DJ JaBig) will be with us to answer questions! DJ JaBig grew up in Rwanda, Kenya and South Africa before settling in Montreal, Canada. After taking up cycling and becoming an avid cyclist, he decided to explore the different landscapes across Canada on two wheels. In 2016, he set out to ride across Canada to its frozen Arctic Ocean shore in an attempt to break the record for the longest, continuous, fixed-gear bike ride. His journey is chronicled in the short film Escape (Mountainfilm 2018).
Riccarda de Eccher
The 7pm Festival Screening includes the film Montagna and the films subject, Italian-born watercolor artist Riccarda de Eccher. Eccher is twice blessed: she found her passion as a climber when she was young; and, she discovered her passion as a painter when her climbing years were past. Now a resident of New York, she has published several books of short stories about her paintings. There will be a brief Q&A following the film.
There will be a private meet-and-greet reception for VIP pass holders at 4:30pm between the two screenings with both DJ JaBig and Riccarda de Eccher.
