Introduction to Amateur Radio

Past event
Mar 1, 2014, 4 to 5:30 PM

Want access to radio spectrum territory that nobody else can use? Want to communicate even when Internet and cellphones go down? Amateur radio (a.k.a. Ham Radio) is the original high-tech hobby, and it's still the place for "makers" and tinkerers, kit-builders, electronics experimenters, and seekers of amazing adventures in the invisible radio ether. (Morse Code is no longer required for licensing!) For a quick introduction to ham radio, along with a demonstration of shortwave radio listening and two-way communications, join us. You'll learn how to get involved, how easy it is to earn your FCC license, and how hams worldwide serve the community during natural disasters. All ages. Come to Ilsley Public Library, downstairs meeting room.
