Bethany Church to Share Presentation on Relief Efforts In Puerto Rico

In the year since Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico with such devastating force, the Rev. Doug and Judy Moore spent 2 1/2 months there, working with the United Church of Christ Disaster Relief Ministries. While in Puerto Rico, they met members of a local church and their pastor, who were all engaged in life-saving ministry of feeding their large and impoverished community. Hurricane Maria significantly curtailed those outreach efforts, and threatened their dreams to expand to include after-school programs for children, teaching English to adults, counseling services to all ages and medical care. Doug and Judy came home determined to tell the story of "Tita's Church" and to invite others into the mission to rebuild. On September 30, Doug will preach at the 10:00 worship service, and he and Judy will share stories and seek support from those gathered for a soup and bread lunch, beginning at 11:30 AM.
