I am pleased to announce that on Thursday September 20 the Northfield Democrats are holding a "Meet the Candidates Night" at the Community Room in the Brown Public Library at 6:30 pm.
This November residents of Northfield and Berlin will elect two State Representatives for the Washington-1 district. The Democratic nominees are Denise MacMartin and Jeremy Hansen.
Denise is retired from a 30-year career in higher education administration that included positions as Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Norwich University, Registrar at Vermont Technical College, and Director of Admissions at Vermont College of Fine Arts. She owns and operates a custom quilting business, Legacy Threads, and currently serves on the board of CERV (Community Emergency Relief Volunteers).
Jeremy is an assistant professor of computer science at Norwich University. He is the founder and chair of Central Vermont Internet, the vice chair of the Berlin Select Board, a Berlin Economic Development Committee member, and he is also on the Board of Directors of the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department.
I'd like to encourage everyone to come out and meet these great candidates, hear their ideas, ask questions and let them know what issues are important to you. Light refreshments will be served.
