Friends -
Please come join us for the grand finale of this season's potlucks at WMF.
In perfect timing with the current Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, we'll be joined by ANNE HANSON who will share her stories of civil disobedience. Our brave, inspired friend and neighbor traveled to D.C. to sit in at Mitch McConnell's office, in protest of this manipulated, rushed, partisan process.
Excerpts here from an article that she wrote about her experience:
"Since January 20, 2017 the third branch--the judicial system has been the most consistent bulwark against the swift arrival of a U.S. fascist state, but with unfilled federal judgeships being appointed and filled at an efficient make-up speed rate, again thanks to the machinations of McConnell--it is unclear how long the sea wall of the judicial branch will hold out against concentrated power."
"If I could carve out a few days in a too busy life to act in this urgent time…I could be one of a number. So too could others who are concerned with our imperiled democracy and outraged at the manipulations of one man, McConnell--who has acted unilaterally and unchecked to further advance the power of MORE big interests at the expense of ordinary folk. Maybe WE--yes the people!-- could pull off something almost biblical: a miracle of numbers who at this moment are willing to stand up by strategically sitting down."
6:30, bring a dish to share.
