A History of Tucker Mountain" on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th at 2:00 PM at the West Newbury Congregational Church.
Stories of the geologic past; accounts of human adventure; and tales of misadventure — even conspiracy. Tom Kidder will be bringing alive a key part of Newbury's past with "A History of Tucker Mountain" on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th at 2:00 PM at the West Newbury Congregational Church. Tom has been exploring Tucker Mountain for many years. He'll be sharing what he has learned by way of a slideshow presentation on this iconic piece of Newbury geography and its rich heritage. Light seasonal refreshments will be served. Free (donations welcomed) and handicapped accessible.

Weather permitting, Tom will lead a tour of Tucker Mountain for those relishing the chance to get into the great outdoors and explore the mountain firsthand. Those joining in will first drive the mile-and-a-half up to the trailhead. From there, they will set off on foot to the mountain top. Hikers will be rewarded with stories from the past, a chance to see historic landmarks, and magnificent views. The roundtrip length of the hike is approximately 2.5 miles. Be sure to wear good walking shoes and bring along snacks and a bottle of water.
