Dear Neighbors,
The City Council will convene its second of two regular meetings for the month of February this coming Tuesday. (Please note the meeting will be held on Tuesday given the Presidents Day holiday.)
We will hold a very brief Local Control Commission meeting at 7pm where we will be voting to approve several first class liquor licenses. Following this meeting, we will convene our Council meeting in Contois Auditorium in City Hall.
We will begin our meeting with three public hearings. The first is the Climate Action Plan and Open Space Protection Plan. The second and third hearings are on changes to our City Ordinance. The first is a hearing on changes to our downtown parking ordinance which will eliminate parking requirements on new developments in favor of a more holistic Parking Demand Management District approach. Parking research and local studies indicate that we do not have a shortage of parking but rather a lack of coordinated parking management. The second hearing is a proposed change to our recreation greenspace lot coverage. The new language would increase the amount of lot coverage in some parks in order to accommodate waterfront improvements and other parks improvements.
We have one resolution to vote on and perhaps one of the most important and historic we will approve this year. The full Council will be co-sponsoring the resolution approving the Burlington Telecom settlement with Citibank.
We will then have council committee reports, comments from councilors and the Mayor. Please keep in mind that you are welcome to come to a council meeting and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm.
Our last agenda item will be an Executive Session on the collective bargaining.
In addition to our Council meeting, we will also hold a meeting of the Board of Civil Authority with the Mayor presiding to vote on the appointment of Acting Justice of the Peace for the upcoming election.
Additionally, we will have a Council meeting with the Mayor presiding to discuss a request for personal hardship to allow a waiver in the residency requirement for a department head.

Please keep in mind that at all Council meetings are televised live on Channel 317 on Burlington Telecom.
As always, I welcome your questions and concerns. Please email or give me a call over the long weekend or on Tuesday. I hope you enjoy the snow and have a wonderful holiday weekend.
All my best,
Karen
