The Vermont Army National Guard is scheduled to host Soldier Showcase 2018 at Camp Ethan Allen Training Site, Jericho, Vermont, Saturday-Sunday, September 8-9, highlighting each unit in the VTARNG in one location for Vermont residents to see the capabilities of their Vermont Army National Guard.
The event is free and open to the public. Upon entering through the gate, please park at the first lot on your left. A picture ID will be needed to get on Camp Ethan Allen Training Site and minors must be accompanied by a guardian. Please wear appropriate footwear.
Mortar and artillery live-fire demonstrations, engineer-controlled demolitions, welding and other unit demonstrations will occur throughout the weekend. A rappelling lane will also be open for attendees to work with the Vermont National Guard's Army Mountain Warfare School.
"Vermont National Guard Soldiers work hard throughout the year and many of our residents never get to see what their neighbors do on a drill weekend or at their annual training and this event allows us to showcase our training," said Col. Nathan Lord, 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Mountain), commander. "This is also an opportunity for us to say thank you to the community and employers for their support of our Soldiers."
There will be an opportunity for the public and media to speak with Soldiers at the event.
Most events are within walking distance of each other and shuttles will also be provided.
The event on Saturday, September 8, is from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. The event begins on Sunday, September 9, from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
