Jericho Planning Commission Update & Meeting Sept. 4

Past event
Sep 4, 2018, 7 to 9 PM

Here is an update on the recent draft amendments to the Land Use Regulations.

These amendments included: a revised Natural Resources Overlay; new trails language supporting the 2014 Bike and Ped. Plan; and a change in the required driveway grade from 12% to 10%. (Please note that this change in driveway grade does not have impact on the existing required grade for private and public roads found in the Public Works Specs, which is already 10% for residential development and 8% for commercial development.)

The Selectboard, on August 30 voted 3-0 to approve these amendments to the Land Use Regulations. The Planning Commission would like to thank the Conservation Commission for their hard work on the Natural Resources Overlay as well as the Trails Committee and the Underhill Jericho Fire Department for their assistance on the trails and grade change language. Additionally, thank you to the public for all of your input and collaboration through this amendment process.

Next, the Planning Commission will meet next on September 4 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Town Hall. The following items are on the agenda

Rob and Mia Groff are proposing to construct a dance studio adjacent to the schools on River Road. They will be talking to the PC about potentially giving their support for their proposal for shared parking with BRMS and Underhill ID.

The PC will be discussing the following future zoning amendments:

1) Cemeteries – The discussion is about changing the definition in the Zoning as well as allowing cemeteries as a conditional use in the Rural Agricultural Residential zoning district.

2) Accessory Apartments –The PC looked at making some changes to the accessory apartment regulations in 2016. They will discussing those old proposed changes and consider if those or other changes should be made.

3) Planned Unit Development. They will consider language proposed in 2016

Other business – The PC will spend some time going over the online engagement platform that they will be using for conveying information and gathering community input. They will hear about a few other topics: an update on the Commercial District project, Municipal Day Conference and Energy Planning.

All are welcome to attend. If you can't make it, the meeting will be recorded by MMCTV and that video will be available later next week on the Planning Commission page of the Town website (https://goo.gl/RUawFN).
