This workshop explores the relationship between sound and silence, community and solitude. Lead by our friends Pavi Mehta, who lives in India, and Vaiva Aglinskas, who is currently a Fulbright scholar in Lithuania, this is a rare opportunity to learn from these two amazing women. Vaiva is an anthropologist, teacher, and singer with a deep knowledge of Lithuanian music, folklore and history. Pavi is an artist and singer who has been studying the Baul tradition in India for the last three years. Bauls are wandering ministrels, poet-philosophers and holy madmen, spiritual seekers in search of true love and pure freedom.

Pavi will share a few core practices of pranayama and asana practice (breath and body movements) from the Baul path as taught to her by her guru Parvathy Baul. These ancient practices are passed from generation to generation, developed to awaken the power of self healing and connect to our true voice by diving into the silence deep within.

Vaiva will guide us in singing Sutartines, an incredibly beautiful pre-Christian tradition of group singing from the forested lands of Lithuania. Sutartines are deceptively simple songs with the potential to lead to elevated states of consciousness (happiness!) by connecting us with each other and the melodies and dissonance, rhythms and images of nature. Join us and let's sing together in the magical orchards and fields of Vermont!

Cost: $80-$200 sliding scale, more details coming soon! (no one will be turned away for lack of funds) Email Maria to register!!
