Yin Yoga, the quieter yoga practice, works "yin" tissues: fascia, connective tissue and joint sites of the hips, pelvis and lower spine. The practice is characterized by long held, passive floor postures and compliments the more dynamic yang "flow" styles of yoga that emphasize muscular movement and engagement. A more contemplative style of yoga, Yin enhances mobility, opens and replenishes the body's energetic pathways, and cultivates mindfulness and inner stillness.
