The Crowell Gallery invites you to take a virtual trip along the Carpathian mountains in the north of Romania and then southward to the great east-west wall of the Transylvanian Alps. Come travel with photographer Gene Parulis as he guides you through an inspiring odyssey of striking landscapes that bear the signs of a rebirth after a long period of turbulence. "I was happy to witness a Romania beginning to prosper. I encountered a proud, skilled, resilient and beautiful rural culture with a noticeably vibrant spiritual dimension. The images I have selected are an attempt to showcase these features. Landscape, people, art, craft, architecture and a sense of spirit, both real and imagined, constitute the subjects of this exhibition."
Gene Parulis has been traveling, teaching, and photographing around the world since the early 1970s. He is currently an instructor at the Community College of Vermont. His exhibit will be in the Crowell Gallery throughout the month of September. Crowell Gallery admission is free. Gallery/Library hours: Tu, We, Fr: 1-5pm; Thu 2-7pm; Sa 10am-1pm and for artist receptions.
