Are you a family caregiver caring for a loved one or close friend? Are the responsibilities of caregiving leaving you feeling burnt-out or stressed? Well, whether your feeling overwhelmed from your caregiving duties or whether you simply just want to learn how to be a more effective and efficient caregiver, this class is for you. The Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging (SVCOA), a local non-profit dedicated to serving elders and their caregivers in the community, is hosting an upcoming Powerful Tools for Caregivers (PTC) series. Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a National Evidence-Based Caregiver Education program that teaches caregivers how to take better care of themselves and also how to become an overall better caregiver. This six week caregiving series follows the critically-acclaimed book, The Caregiver Helpbook, with each week focusing on a specific aspect of caregiving. From community resources to stress management, this course covers it all, and the best part; the book comes FREE to all class participants! The class is six weeks, with each session running for 90 minutes. It is set to begin on Wednesday, September 26th, 2018 from 2:30 - 4:00 pm, and will continue for the following five Wednesdays with the last session being held on October 31st, 2018. The class will be held at the Vermont State Employees Credit Union (VSECU) and drinks and refreshments will be provided. There is no cost to register, however, pre-registration is required. And space is limited, so sign-up now!
