Tai Chi Open House Saturday September 8th starting at 10 AM. FREE
Danville Community Center (Old Bank Building next to The Pope Memorial Library on Rt. 2, Danville)
Hosted by Marsha Kameron.
Tai chi is often described as "meditation in motion," but it might well be called "medication" in motion. There is growing evidence that this mind-body practice, which originated in China as a martial art, has value in treating or preventing many health problems. In this low-impact, slow-motion exercise, you go without pausing through a series of postures. The movements are usually circular and never forced and the muscles are relaxed rather than tensed.
Benefits: Tai chi is slow and gentle and improves balance, flexibility, and muscle strength. The practice is relaxing and alleviates mental stress.
Demos at 10, 10.30 and 11 AM. 8-Posture set, 24-Posture set, stretching and 8-Pieces of Brocade. You are welcome to watch or join in.
I will be starting ongoing classes in the fall.
I have been teaching Yang Style Tai Chi for the past eight years. I have attended numerous Tai Chi workshops and am a senior student of Andrew Townsend (a disciple of Grand Master Jesse Tsao).
