Hello Mad River Valley & beyond...!!!

Sabouyouma is a high energy 7-piece polyrhythmic groove machine that formed through ongoing musical relationships in Burlington, Vermont's vibrant West-African dance and drumming scene. Sabouyouma is led by Guinean-born Ousmane Camara: the band's front man, composer, and master Balafonist (the Balafon is a West-African marimba).

Help us help former Valley resident Yen Kemeng, his wife and 5 children escape the genocide happening in Cameroon Africa, where French speaking soldiers are randomly murdering English speaking citizens and burning villages.
Yen lived and worked at Sugarbush from 2007-2009 with refugee status, while desperately trying to bring his family to the U.S.A. … to no avail. After years of living in the U.S. without his family and no prospect of being able to bring them here, he went home to reunite with them. He is a good man and needs help!

Yen and his family have been on the run for 3 months now …. staying ahead of the massacres and living through the kindness of others in sheds, barns and spare rooms, (currently hiding/staying at a church in fear). They are desperate to leave and get out of Cameroon in search of a peaceful life in another country. He has communicated to me ... with $5,000.00 he can accomplish the escape - move forward out of Cameroon.

There is also a GoFundMe page set up, if you are able to contribute any amount : "Help Yen & Family Escape Genocide in Cameroon Africa"

Hope to see you!
