Caring for the Caregiver

If you are a family caregiver – caring for a loved one with a disease such as Alzheimer's – you know about stress, the grief, the exhaustion. Sometimes caregiving brings an inner peace and a satisfaction that comes with doing a kindness, with extending compassion, with taking care of someone who needs us.

What Sherril Bover-Cheney will bring to the discussion are ways of keeping those two sides of the caregiving experience in balance as best we can. In order to be the best caregivers we can be, we must first keep ourselves healthy. Learning techniques for caring won't take away the pains of caregiving, but learned skills can make each day a little bit brighter.

Sherril was caregiver for her mother who had Alzheimer's disease and for her late husband who died of cancer. She has been a community outreach educator and support group facilitator for Alzheimer's families.

This session will be held at Curves of Randolph, 10 South Main, and is free and open to the public. If you have questions before the session, you may email Sherril at sherril.bover@gmail.com.
