The new pipe organ at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Fair Haven VT will be officially dedicated on August 23, 2018 at 7 pm. Three organists will share the event on the five-rank instrument which was installed in June of this year by the builder, Timothy E. Smith of Portageville, NY. Walden Moore of New Haven, CT, the Organist/Choirmaster of one of the largest Episcopal Churches in New England, Trinity Church on the Green, will be featured, as well as Timothy Smith, the instrument's designer and builder, and June Hale, Organist/Choirmaster here at St. Luke's. They will play works of a wide variety to show the new organ at its finest. It is comprised of 365 pipes and was designed to the unique space and acoustical needs of the small auditorium of this lovely 1872 Episcopal church. The five ranks (sets) of pipes are available at a variety of pitch levels over two manuals and pedal. Originally the pipes and some of the mechanism were made in Germany and the Midwest, and served churches in Brooklyn, Baltimore, Montreal, and suburban New York City. Timothy Smith, in consultation with Ted Gilbert, his partner in the design of this instrument, selected the components and voiced them for use at St. Luke's. The installation was completed by Andrew Cox, Kurt Riegel, Doug Hendee, Helen Smith, and Van & June Hale. Also featured in the Dedication Recital will be the newly formed children's choir of St. Luke's, accompanied by the organ and a professional organist and violinist, David von Behren of New Haven, CT. Admission is free and there will be a reception during the evening. All are welcome. Bring your friends, family, co-workers. St. Luke's Church is located at 146 N. Main St in Fair Haven VT.
