Did you know that West Brookfield was once a thriving village more important than Randolph and included a saw mill, shingle mill, blacksmith shop, creamery and cheese factory, later used as a dance hall? Alice Wakefield, author of the fascinating history West Brookfield and Thereabouts, will lead the walk, visiting sites of former buildings and industry as well as those still standing such as the meetinghouse, and will show historic photos from her book.
A History Walk this Saturday, August 18, from 2 to 4 P.M. Meet at the West Brookfield Meetinghouse. Light refreshments will be served. There is no charge for the walk; donations to help restore the meetinghouse are appreciated.
