Saturday, September 8 from 9:00 - 12:30: Join Ari Rockland-Miller of TheMushroom Forager for a hands-on workshop introducing gourmet and medicinal wild mushrooms of autumn. We will begin with a presentation from Ari, helping us understand some basics of mushroomforaging, then explore the various habitats of Otter Creek Gorge. We'll pursue the distinctive and delicious mushrooms on Ari's ForageCast cards, including lion's mane, porcini, and yellow foot chanterelles. Participants will receive a September ForageCast handout for the region, steering us towards a safe, targeted and fruitful foray. We will also discuss guidelines for ethical wildcrafting. The workshop will culminate in a tasting of delicious wild mushrooms!
Tuesday, September 11 from 5:00 - 7:30 pm: MALT hosts Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department photographer Tom Rogers for a workshop on wildlife and nature photography. The workshop is geared for beginners who want nature photography basics and for intermediates who want to take their skills to the next level. The workshop will begin with a brief presentation on basics of proper exposure, depth of field, and use of camera equipment, followed by a field session on the Trail Around Middlebury.
