Northfield Briefing on Emerald Ash Borer

Past event
Aug 21, 2018, 7 PM

As you probably know there is an invasive insect, the emerald ash borer, that has reached Vermont and seriously threatens our ash trees. The Conservation Commission invites you to come August 21 at 7 pm to the United Church for a briefing by a state and UVM official as well as our own Russ Barrett, retired county forester, Northfield tree warden, and vice-chair of the Northfield Conservation Commission. Learn about the threats to our forests and what we can do to slow the spread. Learn what you as a land owner should know and do to protect your land.

On August 26, join with local scouts and others, from 5-6:30 at the United Church, for a training with Russ Barrett, and learn how to identify ash trees.

Please don't carry firewood into this area or out of this area. The bug travels less than a mile a year on its own. In your car or truck it can travel hundreds of miles in a few hours. Many thanks!
