The thirteen harrowing days of the Cuban Missile Crisis brought the world to the brink of nuclear disaster. Writer Michael Tougias recounrts this tense chapter of history and explores how President Kennedy reached a decision on a course of action. Tougias will share insights from his interviews with the U-2 pilots who flew unarmed over Cuba to secure the photographic proof that the Soviets were installing nuclear missiles on the island. The presentation will also highlight some of the lesser know events and recently unclassified documents related to this crisis.
