This Tuesday, August 7, Summer Music from Greensboro presents The Altius Quartet, grand prize winners in the Classics Alive Young Artists Competition. The group has won many other awards and is gaining an international reputation, their work described as "rich" and "captivating." Their program includes Schubert's String Quartet No. 14 in D minor, String Quartet No. 8 in C minor, Opus 110, by Shostakovich, Poltergeist Rag for String Quartet by Bolcom, and arrangements of three popular songs by various songwriters. The concert begins at 7:30 pm at the United Church of Christ in Greensboro. Tickets are $20 (youth under 18 free) and may be purchased at The Miller's Thumb Gallery, online at www.summermusicfromgreensboro.net, or at the box office the night of the concert.
