It's hard to believe that less than 100 years ago women did not have the right to vote. The League of Women Voters aka LWV was born from the women's suffragist movement in 1920. Since then, the League has worked hard to ensure that all Americans exercise their right to vote in all elections and to provide voter registration forms, accurate voting information, and candidate info.
ONLINE VOTER GUIDE. CONVENIENT, EASY, INVALUABLE!
The League of Women Voters has launched its Nonpartisan Voter Guide, a free online tool to help Vermonters get ready to vote.
The League's Nonpartisan Voter Guide allows you to:
- Get to know candidates as you learn about their education and careers.
- See what candidates are saying about issues relevant to the offices they seek.
- Find out which organizations, newspapers, and elected officials are backing each candidate.
To access the Guide, go to https://lwvofvt.civicengine.com, enter your address, select a political party, and see all candidates running for federal, state, local, and judicial offices. As the August 14 election is a partisan primary, you may vote only for candidates in one political party. BUT you DO NOT have to declare yourself as belonging to any particular political party on your voter registration application. THE VERMONT PRIMARY IS OPEN TO ALL REGISTERED VOTERS.
You can print out a "ballot" indicating your preferences as a reminder and take it with you to the polls on Election Day. You can also create a calendar appointment, receive a reminder to vote, locate your polling site and hours of operation, and share information with friends on social media.
The League of Women Voters is a NON-PARTISAN and GENDER NEUTRAL (despite the name) political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. We do not support or oppose candidates for office at any level of government. If you have questions or would like more information, contact lwvofvt@gmail.com.
