(Forest Walk Invitation)
The Pasture
by Robert Frost
I'm going out to clean the pasture spring;
I'll only stop to rake the leaves away
(And wait to watch the water clear, I may):
I sha'n't be gone long.—You come too.
I'm going out to fetch the little calf
That's standing by the mother. It's so young,
It totters when she licks it with her tongue.
I sha'n't be gone long.—You come too.
Nola's personal addition:
I'm going to explore the beaver pond,
I'm curious to see my beaver friends,
their work thus far this year has been amazing.
I shan't be gone long. --You come too.
Yes! Come! On Saturday August 18th, we will be trekking out back to the ever-changing, ever remarkable beaver pond. It's a walk of wonder and thoughtfulness through a piece of the forest to see and cherish. The walk is relatively flat--partially on a trail, partially bushwhacking. Good food will be provided to stimulate your energy...
Please come with curiosity: Saturday, August 18 from 9-11:30 AM.
2936 Natural Turnpike Rt. 59 in Ripton
Call Nola with questions and to get directions: 802-388-6107 or email Jennifer at jennifer.stefani@gmail.com.
P.S. Please leave your cell phones at home or in your vehicle. They don't do well up here (in Ripton)--I have stories to prove that! :) Thank you.
Hello neighbors! I have posted the above invitation in collaboration with my friend Nola, who wrote it (with help from R. Frost). I've heard recently that in Japan, insurance companies will pay for a treatment of forest bathing--you can get out there for free here with Nola, a guide who knows and loves the forest... and the trees... and the way to the beaver pond.
She is wonderfully resistant to joining the emailing trend in our culture so I'm the one posting this, but she, unlike many of us, still answers her phone. Feel free to call her, and please, come walk with us.
