Hiroshima Remembering

On Sunday, August 5 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Fletcher Free Library, 235 College Street in Burlington, you are invited to attend the film "White Light Black Rain." The film features Japanese and American survivors of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.The film, sponsored by Burlington Friends Meeting, will be followed by a discussion. Participants are invited to join in the Remembrance March at 6 pm.

The Remembrance March, from 6 to 8:00 pm, sponsored by the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) and the Peace & Justice Center (PJC), will be singing Songs for Hope: in memory of Hiroshima and Nagasaki starting at the top of Church St. (and Pearl near the Unitarian Universalist Church, Burlington) and walking down to the waterfront near the boathouse. In memory of those who lost their lives in the nuclear devastation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki; chalk 'shadow drawings' will be made on the streets, candle boats will be launched, and peace songs sung. Everyone is welcome.
