The Westmore Association will host a family dance on Friday, August 10, from 6:30-9:00pm, at the Fellowship Hall, 27 Hinton Hill Road in Westmore.
An evening of fun for the whole family, the program will include traditional New England square dances, dances in long lines (like the Virginia Reel), a circle dance from Quebec, couple dances such as the waltz, and much more. Caller David Millstone has more than 40 years experience teaching dancers across the US, Canada, and Europe. He promises a program simple enough so that everyone can join in with plenty of variety. "If you can walk, you can do these dances," he says. "If you know your left hand from your right, you have an even greater advantage!" Every dance will taught beforehand and prompted so dancers don't have to memorize complicated steps.
Toe-tapping live music will be provided by Jaige Trudel (fiddle) and Adam Broome (guitar). As part of the bands Crowfoot and Maivish, they have toured extensively and have been featured at major dance events around the country. They also organize the annual Ooh La La! dance festival in southern Quebec.
