Can you think of a better way to experience summer sunsets than from the surface of Lake Champlain learning a new sport with a fun group of people on Lake Champlain?
Join us on Monday evenings in August and we'll teach you what you need to know to join a competitive dragon boat club. You'll learn stroke fundamentals and how to apply power and speed, and you'll get a taste of racing. This series of four lessons gets you ready to join one of our regular crews for racing adventure in the northeast, Canada, and beyond!
(Don't know what a dragon boat is? It's a 40+-foot-long canoe propelled by 20 paddlers (or a smaller boat paddled by 10), and it's one of the most fun team sports you'll ever try.)
If you have competitive spirit, a desire to get fitter starting from wherever you are, and a willingness to learn, we've got a seat for you. All ages (16+) and genders are welcome. (Current members range from their mid-20s to mid-70s.)
Note: side effects of dragon boating may include year-round pursuit of fitness, new friendships, and increased appetite for certain minerals (specifically gold, silver, and bronze).
Mondays, Aug 6, 13, 20, 27; 5:45 at the Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center (Lake St, Burlington). $75 for the series. Advance registration required:
