On August 5th and 6th 1945 the U.S. military dropped nuclear bombs on two Japanese cities killing at least 129,000 civilians.
to date, the US is the only country to use nuclear weapons against human populations.

Sunday, August 5, 4-6 p.m.
Fletcher Free Library, Film: White Light, Black Rain, interviews of survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Discussion.

6-8 p.m. Peace March from Church and Pearl Streets to Waterfront, and a ceremony floating candles on the Lake.

Monday, August 6, 8-9 a.m.
Silent Vigil, remembering the victims. Corner Main and South Prospect.

Thursday, August 9, 11-noon.
Silent Vigil, calling for abolition of nuclear weapons.

Wednesday, September 19, 7-9 p.m.
Testimony of two survivors of the 1945 bombings. Livak Ballroom, Davis Center, UVM campus.
