This Thursday Aug 2nd at 7 PM, it's Bobcats! Wild, Yet Wonderfully Near Us with Susan Morse, founder of Keeping Track. This is a fascinating, fun and visually stunning slide show and lecture about Vermont wildlife. While the focus will be on bobcats, we will learn about other mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles that share our Vermont habitat. Keeping Track is an organization devoted to training professional biologists and citizen scientists in wildlife monitoring skills. Susan will illustrate how we can enhance our understanding and appreciation for our local wildlife while protecting critical habitat.
And on Sunday, August 12 another very special program is in store for your family. It's Modern Times Theater with "Junk Music" a workshop and puppet show. At 11:30 AM, Rose Friedman and Justin Lander will lead a series of listening exercises and rhythm games. Everyone will learn to make a variety of musical instruments from common household items and even from junk! For accomplished musicians and for complete novices, these explorations of the uses of non-traditional sound are accessible and fun.
Following the workshop Rose and Justin will offer "That's What I Call Sweet Music", a puppet show that follows the troubles and travails of puppetry's favorite loudmouth, Mr. Punch as he sings his way through trouble, adventure, and triumph.
And you can still keep up your fitness each week with our popular exercise and fitness programs: Yoga for all levels is on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM. Yoga is sponsored by National Life Group Foundation. And our AM Bootcamp continues on Mondays and Thursdays at 7:30 AM. Classes are sponsored by Nancy McCall.
In the coming weeks, the Old Town Hall will host a presentation by Dartmouth professor Mary Coffey on the amazing Jose Clemente Orozco mural at Dartmouth's Baker Library.
