Come and join the NEK Waste Management District at The Derby Community Bldg, 124 Main St, on 8/16. 6:30-8pm, to share your experiences and learn more about backyard composting.

One lucky attendee will walk away with a free Soil Saver backyard composter (additional compost bins available for sale, $45 each).

We will discuss:
-Act 148 (Recycling and Composting Law)
-What is compost?
-Composting considerations (site layout, bin choice)
-Compost "recipe", 1:3 ratio of "greens" to "browns"
-The science of composting
-Troubleshooting your compost pile.
