The Fairfax Recreation Dept. will host a free concert featuring The Buck Hollers (www.buckhollers.com) and Troy Millette (https://troymillettemusic.com/) this Sunday from 5-8 PM at the Fairfax Community Center on Main Street (formerly the "Baptist Building"). Free-will donations will benefit the Community Center development fund (https://fairfaxrecreation.com/communitycenter/). Indoor seating available in case of rain. Bring a snack and a beverage and take advantage of this great opportunity to hear a wide variety of awesome and free live music from these talented local musicians right here in town.
In only three years The Buck Hollers have become regulars at venues around northern Vermont and New York. They bring an original sound to a wide variety of well-known and less-popular American and Irish folk, classic country, country rock, bluegrass, rockabilly, and Americana songs. Richly harmonized vocals blend with rhythmic guitar, banjo, and harmonica, and the occasional stunning acapella. A witty original piece or two often rounds out the show with a sound that Seven Days says "gets boots a-tappin." Covers include Johnny Cash, The Grateful Dead, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Roger Miller, Trampled by Turtles, Merle Haggard, John Prine, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Bob Wills, and many more.
Heart, humor, and humility are the keys to success for Troy Millette, a 24-year-old singer/songwriter from Fairfax, VT. On the back of striking original songs, imaginative covers, and a jovial onstage persona, Millette has quickly earned himself a reputation as one of New England's must-see artists. Whether performing as a soloist or alongside violinist Dylan Gombas, his live shows are guaranteed to entertain music-lovers of all kinds. Over the past several years he has continued to hone his craft, playing hundreds of shows across the Northeast United States and Canada with esteemed touring acts such as Grace Potter, Richard Marx, Rick Springfield, Trey Anastasio (Phish), Mondo Cozmo, Dawes, Oh Honey, Noah Guthrie (of FOX television series 'glee'), Will Evans (formerly of Barefoot Truth), the Ghost of Paul Revere, Madaila, Kat Wright, Gang of Thieves, and Jamie Lee Thurston.
