The Pawlet Public Library, with additional sponsorship from the businesses of Pawlet, presents the Washington County Band in an outdoor concert on the library lawn on Saturday, August 4, 7-9:00 p.m. In case of rain, the concert will be held at the Pawlet Town Hall Auditorium across the street from the library. Concert goers supply their own lawn chairs and blankets. Admission is free.
Over 40 talented musicians from New York and Vermont play at various venues during the summer months. Under the direction of Paul Kafer, each concert is different to encourage followers to attend all the band's concerts in the local area. The group performs popular songs of different styles of music like show tunes, jazz and American classics.
The volunteer band was organized about 40 years ago, and it recruits younger musicians to join the seasoned musicians who take on a mentor role. Currently, the ages of the band members range from 16 to 86.
The Pawlet Public Library is housed in a renovated and accessible historic grammar school building, located at 141 School Street in Pawlet. For the full schedule of 2018 public programs, visit www.pawletpubliclibrary.wordpress.com or call 802-325-3123.
