We have 3 events this Thursday night to engage and inspire.
At 6pm create a Pressed Botanical Arrangement. Create a unique arrangement of botanicals at the Bixby. The Workshop will also include historical context on botanicals' popularity in home décor through the nineteenth century. Please register in advance by signing up in the library or emailing Beth Anne Royer to secure a spot. She can be reached at bethanne.royer@bixbylibrary.org At 6pm enjoy a Table Read. Local writer and teacher Pat Willwerth will present the next installment of his novel in progress "Catfish Commons." In "Catfish Commons" a broken family joins forces with a band of outcasts to fight a local utility threatening their property with eminent domain proceedings. The format for the table read is simple: the author's work is read aloud by peers, and then discussed—all the while the author remains silent. They exist like a fly on the wall, observing others interacting with their work. The reading will go for about an hour, and the discussion will follow. This event is open and free to the public. Thank you to Zig Zag Lit Mag for co-sponsoring these table reads.
At 6:30 check out "As You Like It" performed by the Hourglass Theatre Group. This cast of teen performers creates their own sets, costumes, makeup and staging. Led by Lauren Palmer they cast a spell on their audience from their opening lines. Their productions are a feast for Shakespeare fans and a nice way to introduce your older children to the Bard. Bring a picnic basket dinner and enjoy the play. Although free, the troupe appreciates donations! Please pre-register at www.bixbylibrary.org or in the lobby.
Come and enjoy creating artwork out of nature or read a never before published novel or watch Shakespeare performed. There is something for everyone this Thursday at the Bixby Library.
