Disability Rights: ADA 101, 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, July 31, Room 266, Asa Bloomer Building, 88 Merchants Row, Rutland.

Learn about your rights! The ADA is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life including employment, schools, transportation and all public and private spaces that are open to the general public. Mike Charron and Ericka Reil from the VCIL Montpelier office will discuss rights & responsibilities under the ADA, including how to interact with businesses that have access issues, what to do if your sidewalk is not usable, how to have success dealing with state bureaucracy, who to call and what to say, and more.
