Reminder - Energy Forum Feb. 11

Past event
Feb 11, 2014, 6:30 PM

The Moretown Energy Committee and Planning Commission are jointly sponsoring an Energy Workshop on Tuesday, February 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Moretown Town Hall. The evening will begin with a presentation of background information and panel discussion of key energy issues.

The workshop is primarily intended to be an opportunity for Moretown residents to direct the work of the Energy Committee and Planning Commission. Following the panel discussion, attendees will be asked to consider energy-related goals and recommendations that should be included in the Moretown Plan, which is currently being updated, such as:
1. Should Moretown encourage or require new buildings to be more energy efficient?
2. Should the town invest in making streetlights, municipal buildings or municipal vehicles more energy efficient?
3. Should the plan identify areas of town where larger solar or wind projects would or would not be appropriate?
4. Should the plan include specific criteria related to the size, height, location or impact of energy generation or transmission infrastructure?
5. Should Moretown seek opportunities to develop a renewable energy project on the land behind the school or other town property?

Based on the results of the Community Survey last fall, these are matters of concern and interest in Moretown. The Energy Committee and Planning Commission encourage all residents to learn more about energy issues facing the town and take an active role in shaping the town plan and town energy policies by attending the workshop. Hot beverages and light refreshments will be served. More information about the meeting and the Moretown Plan update is available online at www.placesense.com/moretown.

Hope to see you there!
