Thursday, July 19th at 7pm in the Peacham Library Community Room: This summer, the Peacham Library's popular annual summer speaker series explores "The Art of Storytelling", showcasing the diversity of methods and mediums that can be used to convey narrative or emotional arch.
This Thursday marks the opening event of the series, with guest speakers from the board of The Peacham Historical Association. PHA's archive contains a wealth of items and artifacts relevant to the Peacham community. The PHA's annual summer exhibition features "Treasures from Peacham's History", with little-seen objects, manuscripts and photographs from their collections. Each member of the PHA board has chosen an object of special importance, which range widely in type, from photos of Knox Morgan, one of the premier sires of the Morgan horse line; to a wickedly funny painting of local club women gossiping; to Civil War documents. At the Library's summer series event, PHA board members will use their backgrounds in art history and other humanities to address the eloquence of objects, drawing from the "Treasures" exhibition.
The Peacham Library Summer Series continues on Thursday evenings at 7:00pm in the Peacham Library Community Room with guest speakers including award-winning podcast producers, filmmakers, authors, and art historians. All series events are free (although donations are accepted and welcomed). Don't miss the other events in the series, including:
