4 Freedoms Festival Bell Ringing

Past event
Jul 20, 2018, 4 to 4:04 PM

The Old Brick Church bell will ring on Friday at 4 in the afternoon for 4 minutes, one minute for each freedom, to join with other town and church bells which will ring across Vermont to celebrate the four freedoms painted by Norman Rockwell in the Saturday Evening Post in 1943. Portraying freedom from fear, freedom from want, freedom of worship and freedom of speech, Rockwell's "Four Freedoms" paintings played an important role in funding the Allied effort in World War II. If you would like to pull the rope to get the church bell to ring come to the church a little before 4 so that we can get organized before we start. All ages and both genders are welcomed to participate in this event. The rope to pull is up a flight of narrow stairs at the church.
