On Thursday, July 26, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm in the Lamoille Housing Partnership/SASH Housing Site Community Room at 167 Park Avenue, Morrisville, VT,
Mike Charron, Ericka Reil, and Patricia Tedesco from Vermont Center for Independent Living (VCIL) in Montpelier will explain how specific disability-related laws can impact and improve our everyday lives.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private places that are open to the general public.

Mike and Ericka will discuss our rights and responsibilities under the ADA, including how to interact with businesses that have access issues, what to do when your town sidewalk is not useable, how to have success with the state bureaucracy - who to call and what to say.

Patricia will present about VCIL's Home Access Program (HAP) that provides ramps and bathroom modifications to qualified Vermonters with disabilities.

This workshop is for people with disabilities as well as care givers, service providers and allies.
A light lunch will be provided. Come learn what your rights are under the law.
