Nourish Your Community: volunteer to harvest food for the hungry
When: Tues, July 24th 7:30 AM - noon
What: Spend the morning with Salvation Farms harvesting vegetables at the Barber Farm in Jericho, for donation to food shelves and meal sites in our region.
The Barber Farm grows food to help feed those in our community who have limited access to fresh foods. Growing this food is a lot of work, so Salvation Farms and other organizations step in to help with the harvesting and distribution.
The crops we harvest from the Barber Farm will be transported to the Vermont Commodity Program, Salvation Farm' surplus-crop food hub in Winooski. There, they will be sorted and packed for distribution to food shelves and meal sites serving those in our community with limited access to fresh, wholesome foods.
