Forestry Tour and Informational Meeting

Join Ian Martin of Northwoods Farm & Forestry, Tom Groves and Logan Sears of Long View
Forest, and Sylvia Harris of the Natural Resources Conservation Service for a tour of
an upcoming forest management project on the Meinke/Brickley property in Dummerston Center. This USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service funded project includes paper birch bark harvesting, invasive plant control, timber stand improvement, and song bird habitat enhancement. We will be discussing the rationale for all elements of the project, what to expect while the harvest is underway, ecological considerations, and desired outcomes.
The program includes:
1. a site visit which will require a one mile hike over uneven terrain
2. followed by a question and answer session with refreshments downstairs at the Evening Star Grange at the corner of Middle Rd. and East West Rd.
Feel free to come just for the hike or just for the meeting.
